Music inspires the artwork of Anthony Ficheria at Goodwill Columbus. He also expresses his individuality through his clothing.
“Anthony has his own sense of style and conveys that through his artwork and his attire,” said Holly Adkins-Ardrey, studio manager at the Goodwill Art Studio and Gallery. “He enjoys shopping for new clothing and accessories that express his individuality, and he is a fan of soul, country and gospel music which often inspire his artwork.”

| Ficheria grew up in Columbus, Ohio, and became an active participant in Goodwill’s Sage Senior Services, a day habilitation program, providing activities and work opportunities for senior citizens with mental retardation and developmental disabilities. It was at Goodwill that Ficheria’s dedication and passion for art developed. “I love the studio. It makes me feel like a ‘big guy’ when people look at my pictures. Art is my new career,” said Ficheria.
At the art studio, Ficheria generally concentrates on drawing including graphite, charcoal, colored pencils and markers. Ficheria rarely strays from the female figure as subject matter but occasionally depicts his favorite singers– Hank Williams Sr. and Curtis Mayfield. He is extremely sensitive to the soft lines and gentle curves of the female form and attempts to convey this sensitivity in his work. “Anthony’s incredible talent, combined with his unique sense of style, result in highly expressive and intriguing imagery,” said Adkins-Ardrey.
Ficheria's artwork has been represented in more than eight juried exhibitions in the last year, and it is on display in the art studio and Goodwill, 1331 Edgehill Road, Columbus. |
